Meeting Synaptec
Our first in-person meeting with Synaptec took place at a roundtable in December, led by our Engineering specialist, Erin Rabbetts. With deep industry knowledge and a strong technical network, Erin quickly built trust with key stakeholders, including the Chief of Staff, CEO, and Heads of Department.
By speaking directly with the wider leadership team, Erin gained a clear understanding of Synaptec’s structure, hiring challenges, and the commercial expectations behind each vacancy. This context shaped her search strategy from the outset.

The role
One of Synaptec’s key priorities was hiring a Sales Operations Manager. Someone with a strong commercial background within the Energy industry, to help the business optimize and drive forward the sales function at a critical phase of growth. They needed a candidate who could lead on process improvement, data-led decisions, and stakeholder engagement across technical and commercial teams.
Erin’s approach
To find the right person, Erin knew she had to reach into her network of non-active and semi active professionals. It was here that she found Paul – an experienced professional who wasn’t actively on the market but had the right mix of skills, ambition, and cultural alignment.
She managed the entire interview process directly with Synaptec’s Chief of Staff, handling all logistics and communications between both parties. Erin’s close relationship with Paul meant she could assess his motivations and long-term goals alongside technical fit to see if there was alignment before any formal interviews took place.
Being at the heart of the interview process, Erin was able to field the technical, commercial and cultural questions so she could tackle all queries and concerns on either side effectively. By acting as a strategic partner throughout, Erin saved time and gave Synaptec the confidence to move forward decisively.

The outcome
Paul immediately accepted, agreeing to start just 3 weeks later. He’s now thriving in his new position already making significant impact on the sales process and working with Erin to support the growth of the sales team internationally.
