Location: On-site at a major energy sector facility near Chester
Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum

About the Role

A well-respected specialist in structural steelwork and civil engineering is looking for a highly capable Operations Manager to lead their Civil Engineering and Structural Steelwork Division based on-site at a prominent energy facility near Chester.

This senior leadership role involves overseeing the smooth delivery of complex, high-profile projects while maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day operations for the Civil Engineering and Structural Steelwork Division at the energy sector site.
  • Plan, coordinate, and ensure successful delivery of multiple projects within time, budget, and quality targets.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor site teams, ensuring full compliance with health & safety standards and company policies.
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers to support seamless collaboration.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the wider business development strategy.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare commercial reports, and provide operational performance updates to senior management.
  • Ensure effective resource planning, cost control, and budget management.
  • Champion continuous improvement across all operational activities.
About You
  • Proven experience managing structural steel and civil engineering projects, preferably in high-security or regulated environments.
  • Strong client and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Experience with business development and spotting commercial opportunities.
  • Solid understanding of commercial reporting and operational performance metrics.
  • Skilled in project planning, scheduling, and financial oversight.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health & safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Exceptional leadership qualities, with a proactive, hands-on approach.
