World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Consultant on an initial 12 month contract.
This role would suit a someone from a military background, Supply Chain or Asset Management experience within the defence or Aerospace industries.

Rate: £60.00 per hour
Location: Stevenage
Hybrid / Remote working: 1-2 days onsite, but may need to be onsite more at the start of contract
Contract: 37 Hours per week
Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’
Duration: 12 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Job Description:
Working within CSS Support Services providing support and assurance for the organisation, processes, improvement opportunities and the management of Government Furnished equipment held on behalf of our customers.
Responsibilities:
Advisory & Compliance
- Provide consultancy support to programme teams on GFE requirements under MoD and international defence contracts.
- Interpret DEFCON’s, DEFSTAN 05-099, and related contractual clauses, advising stakeholders on obligations and risks.
- Ensure compliance with government policy, export control, and security regulations regarding use of GFE.
Process Development & Assurance
- Develop and refine GFE management processes, tools, and training material for consistent application
- Conduct internal audits and readiness reviews to assure GFE compliance before customer audits.
- Recommend improvements to systems and processes to strengthen accountability and traceability.
Programme Support
- Support programmes in planning for receipt, allocation, usage, return, or disposal of GFE.
- Provide expert input during contract negotiations and change proposals relating to GFE.
- Assist with resolution of GFE discrepancies, loss, or damage, engaging with MoD as required.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide advisory assurance between the company, the MoD, and subcontractors on GFE-related matters.
- Influence and educate internal stakeholders (commercial, procurement, engineering, logistics) on GFE responsibilities.
- Support cross-functional working groups and industry forums on GFE management.
Reporting & Governance
- Advise on accurate reporting of GFE status, usage, and risks to programme leadership and the MoD.
- Develop KPIs and metrics to demonstrate compliance and performance improvement.
Skillet/experience required:
- Proven experience in GFE / asset management within the defence or aerospace sector.
- Strong knowledge of MoD contractual frameworks (e.g., DEFCON 23, DEFCON 611, DEFCON 694, DEFCON 76) and defence standards.
- Demonstrable experience advising on contractual and regulatory compliance in a government/defence environment.
- Familiarity with ERP / asset management systems (e.g., SAP) and data reporting tools.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
- Analytical approach, with ability to identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC as a minimum).
- Preferred Professional qualifications in Supply Chain, Asset Management, or Contract Management (e.g., CIPS, APICS, IACCM).
- Audit or compliance background (ISO, MoD audits, etc.).
- Experience in an international defence contracting environment.
- Continuous improvement / Lean / Six Sigma knowledge.
