Are you an Assistant Accountant with a minimum of 3-4 years experience in a similar role?

Reporting to an experienced Finance Manager and FD who can really help you reach your potential in a small, friendly team, in a great environment?

My client is a privately owned design, engineering and maintenance business that has been established for many years. A market leader in their field across the UK, they have won multiple awards for their designs, quality and customer service.

The business has grown steadily over the last 5 years due to repeat business and recommendation (it supported its staff through Covid, topping up furlough and making zero redundancies) and the growth in revenue has shown up the need for a finance professional to join the team in a newly created role.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks which can provide variety and development. The tasks can be built around your skills and would include duties such as:-

  • Assisting with monthly management accounts and analysis
  • Assisting the estimating team with costing analysis where required
  • P&L and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Fixed asset & stock reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • VAT
  • Helping colleagues in AR, AP and payroll when necessary
  • Ad hoc duties and analysis as required

The successful candidate will have a broad grounding in general accounting, experienced in bank & general reconciliations, good attention to detail & accuracy, and good excel skills. You may not have experience in all of the above duties, but if you are someone who takes a pride in their work and is keen to be a member of a friendly, well-established team, let us know.

The role could suit an experienced professional looking for a role they can comfortably manage in a business they can see themselves grow in over time, or for someone less experienced but with proven knowledge of the key tasks who is looking to develop their career more rapidly.

But you must be capable in the key duties, be a good communicator, able to prioritise & manage your work flow, and comfortable being predominantly office based while you learn the systems & processes (although hybrid working is available once you have settled in). Experience of a larger accounting systems such as Sage 200/300 is a benefit; strong excel skills are key; being a decent person is essential.
