New social value legislation is setting higher expectations for businesses, particularly those in the public sector.

But what does it mean?

With the Procurement Act 2023 coming into effect on 24 February 2025 and the updated National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS), the focus on fair work, skills development, and inclusive opportunities is stronger than ever.

While these rules apply to public contracts, the principles behind them are relevant to us all. As a recruitment agency, we know the expectations our clients have on us to provide fair recruiting and we’re proud to live up to it. So, when changes come into place we take the time to review our processes and see where we can make improvements.

Join the conversation on social value

We’re hosting an online open discussion on what these changes mean in practice to us, how we are interpreting them and what we can do to raise standards across the board.

We’re also interested to hear from you – how do you interpret the changes, what are you looking to do to be fairer when it comes to your hiring practises?

Our Head of Social Impact, Anna Higham, will guide the conversation, but this is about shared learning – your insights matter.

Some of the things we’ll discuss:

The value of equal opportunities – Ensuring accessible pathways for all candidates.

How skills & training can support – Aligning with wider efforts to close skills gaps.

The wider impact – How the private sector can take action beyond compliance.

Share ideas – What are the practical steps you do to embed social value in your everyday business.
