Certain Advantage is working in partnership with a leading public organisation seeking an SOC Manager to design, implement and continuously improve the department’s Security Operations strategy, ensuring rapid detection, response and recovery from cyber threats and incidents.
What will you be doing?
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing SOC analyst team, using the career framework to identify learning needs and map progression paths.
- Own the full incident lifecycle—detection, triage, escalation, containment, and resolution—run post-incident reviews, and drive continual improvements through regular exercises.
- Serve as the escalation point for alerts; prioritise and direct enhancements to monitoring coverage and detection rules across key technologies and threats.
- Monitor emerging threats and techniques, integrate actionable intel into security practices, and communicate key insights to relevant stakeholders.
A couple of things you should know:
- Thinks strategically: clearly defines the current security posture and roadmap, and aligns people, tools, and budget to execute that vision.
- Strong leadership track record: builds, mentors, and directs high-performing analyst and engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in incident response workflows: from detection and triage through containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident review.
- Proven ability to design and run a mature 24/7 security monitoring program that reduces dwell time and improves detection coverage.
- Hands-on experience delivering actionable threat intelligence, from collection and analysis to dissemination and integration into defensive controls.
- Extensive background operating and tuning security platforms (SIEM, EDR, NDR, SOAR, etc.) to maximise efficacy and reduce noise.
- Skilled at managing third-party relationships: oversees MSSPs, coordinates with technology vendors, and ensures SLAs and deliverables are met.
