Description of role:

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Renewable Energy (EPC)

The Opportunity

We are representing a leading international Renewable Energy developer and EPC provider that is currently establishing a high-growth “startup” subsidiary in Ireland. While backed by the massive resources and technical expertise of a 1,000+ person European parent company, the Irish team is lean, agile, and rapidly expanding.

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor who wants to be a foundational member of this team. This is not a “siloed” corporate role; you will be the commercial lead for utility-scale Solar PV and Battery Storage (BESS) projects, acting as the bridge between international engineering standards and the local Irish construction market.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership: Take full ownership of the project lifecycle, from initial budget forecasting and cost planning based on high-level designs to final account negotiations.

Local Market Expert: Utilize your knowledge of Irish civil and electrical rates (ducting, trenching, roading) to ensure competitive and accurate project bidding.

Contract Administration: Manage and administer FIDIC (Design-Build) contracts. You will be responsible for managing variations, justifying pricing, and handling subcontractor claims.

Subcontractor Management: Act as the primary commercial interface with major Irish civil and electrical subcontractors, managing the full procurement process and tender evaluations.

Strategic Growth: Work directly with the Country Manager to establish commercial best practices as the Irish office scales from a startup phase to a major market player.

Requirements

Experience: 5–10+ years in Quantity Surveying, ideally within Civil Engineering, Utilities, or Renewable Energy.

Market Knowledge: A deep understanding of the Irish construction landscape, current market rates, and the local supply chain is essential.

The “Doer” Mindset: You thrive in a dynamic, “roll-up-your-sleeves” environment. You are comfortable being the sole commercial voice in the room during the early stages of company growth.

Technical Skills: Strong ability to interpret technical drawings (Single Line Diagrams/Civil specs) and translate them into detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

Contractual Fluency: Proven experience with FIDIC or similar standard forms of contract.

Why Apply?

Best of Both Worlds: Enjoy the energy and influence of a startup environment with the financial security and career path of a global energy leader.

Work-Life Balance: This client offers a unique half-day Friday (1:00 PM finish) to reward the team’s hard work and ensure a genuine 4.5-day working week.

Generous Benefits: 35 days annual leave (inclusive of public holidays), 8% pension contribution, wellness allowances, and professional development support.

Impact: You won’t just be a number; you will be a key decision-maker in the team building Ireland’s green energy infrastructure.
