This role will be pivotal in advising HR teams and managers on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring fair and consistent practices that support a positive workplace culture.
What will you be doing?
- Provide expert advice and guidance to HR Business Partners and managers on employee relations matters including disciplinary issues, grievances, performance, absence, and flexible working.
- Manage industrial relations matters, liaising with employee representatives and interpreting collective agreements.
- Conduct impartial investigations into ER cases and produce thorough reports with well-informed recommendations.
- Identify training needs and support the delivery of employee and manager upskilling in ER/IR topics.
- Contribute to the development and review of HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment law.
- Collaborate across HR functions – including Recruitment and Learning & Development – to deliver joined-up HR solutions.
A couple of things you should know:
- Proven experience in a similar Employee Relations role, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of UK employment law and industrial relations practices.
- Skilled communicator, able to build trust and influence at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving and investigation skills, with a professional and balanced approach.
- Comfortable working with sensitive information and handling it with discretion.
During an interview, you may be asked about:
- Your experience managing complex employee or industrial relations cases.
- How you’ve supported investigations and contributed to HR policy development.
- Examples of influencing senior stakeholders or supporting manager capability.
