Description of role:
World Class Defence Organisation based in Bristol is currently looking to recruit 2x C++ Software Engineer subcontractor on an initial 12 month contract, with very likely extension. The role will be onsite 4 days per week. A 4 day working week is OK (Monday to Thursday).
Rate: £65.00 per hour
Overtime Rate: Hours worked over the standard 37 hours per week, will be paid at ‘time and a quarter’
Location: Bristol
Hybrid / Remote working: The role will be onsite 4 days per week. A 4 day working week is OK (Monday to Thursday).
Duration: 12 Months with very likely extension. Contracts are often ongoing and long-term thereafter.
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)

Job Description:
The role is within a team implementing a demonstration system for a complex new Command and Control capability, this extends existing concepts and logic. If the demonstration is successful, it may develop into a development project for a fully operational capability.
Responsibilities:
Developing and testing complex C++ business logic.
Collaboration with internal algorithm teams to create code to execute algorithms, implement complex transformation logic and verification implementation. We expect several iterations using a CI/CD approach.
Implementation of interfaces to internal and external systems.
Extension of existing software to create components that will run in in a virtual environment and supporting the deployment of software.

Skillset/experience required:
- Strong experience in C++ application development.
- A strong background in software engineering, its realisation and system wide impact.
- Experience in CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Docker.
- Experience of developing software for virtual environments.
- Knowledge of safety and security related development and associated standards is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Data Distribution Service (DDS) is advantageous.
